Fitch holds off Canfield in extra innings

CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – Austintown Fitch edged Canfield 2-1 in 8 innings under extreme rainy and windy conditions Wednesday afternoon.

The Falcons tallied a bases loaded walk to score the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth.

Jared Katurasky went 1-2 with an RBI in the win for Fitch.  Jake Gherardi finished the day 1-3 with a double.  Nick Bianco went 2-4 in the victory.

Derek Gunter tossed 6 shutout innings with 5 strikeouts for the Falcons.  Kapturasky picked up the win on the mound pitching 2 innings, allowing 1 run with 5 strikeouts.

Canfield Pitcher Joey Machuga worked 6 innings and allowed 6 hits, 1 run, with 2 strikeouts.

Joe DeLucia and Ryan Cheslik each went 2-4 in the loss for the Cardinals.

Fitch improves to 2-0 overall on the season, while Canfield drops to 0-4.
