Sharon fire chief says fire is suspicious

SHARON,Pa. (WYTV) – The Pennsylvania State Fire Marshal is investigating a vacant house fire in Sharon; the second one in a week.

The fire happened about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 200 block of Orchard Street.

Crews worked to keep the flames from spreading to occupied homes nearby.

It took crews from Sharon and Farrell about an hour to bring the fire under control.

Sharon Fire Chief Robert Fiscus said if anyone started the fire thinking they are getting rid of an unsightly, vacant house they are wrong.

“The house will be here. It is going to look just as bad, and it is going to put the citizens going to put the fire out in harm’s way. I just plead that if anyone is thinking that might be an option not to go that direction,” Fiscus said.

Fiscus said this is the 16th house fire this year, and most are considered suspicious.
