HARRISBURG, PA (WYTV)-Less than a month after leading his team to a Class “A” state title, Sagaba Konate added some more hardware to the trophy case as the WVU commit was named Player of the Year in Class “A” Saturday afternoon.

Konate averaged a double-double a game this season with 15.5 PPG and 11.1 rebounds. He also created havoc around the basket with over 2 blocks per contest last season.

The senior was named an all-state player as well, taking first-team honors along with teammate Jason Austin.

Austin led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 15.6 PPG while dishing out 6 assists per game.

Malik Miller made it a trifecta of Mercer County boys to earn first-team honors with his selection after averaging 20 PPG this season and becoming the Steelers all-time leading scorer with 1,574 career points.

After coaching his Golden Eagles to 28 wins and the state title, Rick Mancino was named Coach of the Year by the PIAA in Class “A”.

In Class “AAA”, Marquel Hooker was named a second-team all-state selection in his senior season for New Castle.
