Gov. appoints ‘Boom Boom’ Mancini to Athletic Commission

Boxing champion Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini was one of around 250 attendees at Clinton's campaign fundraiser.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WYTV) – Governor John Kasich appointed Youngstown-native Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini to the Ohio Athletic Commission.

The one-time lightweight champ will serve until September 2018.

The Ohio Athletic Commission regulates boxing, mixed martial arts, wrestling, kick boxing and karate.Its goal is to protect the participants and interests of the public.

Last year, the International Boxing Hall of Fame inducted Mancini into its organization.
