NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (WYTV) – A high-speed chase along Interstate 76 in Portage County ended when the driver crashed his vehicle off the side of the road.
At 1:30 Sunday afternoon, Ohio State Highway Patrol says they attempted to make a traffic stop on a driver speeding along I-76.
When the driver did not stop, a high-speed pursuit ensued and continued for nine miles from Posts 50 to 59.
The car went off the road after attempting to get onto a ramp to the Ohio Turnpike, and the driver fled on foot.
He was arrested shortly after on Lipkey Road in North Jackson around 1:37 p.m.
OSP says the driver will face charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless operation and expired registration. His charges will be through Portage County Court.
No one else was in the car at the time and the driver did not hit any other vehicles.
