Josue Rodriguez arrested for assault at Dennys in Liberty, Ohio.

LIBERTY TWP., Ohio (WYTV) – The man accused of beating his wife with a brick in a Denny’s parking lot will be in court Wednesday morning.

Girard police arrested 39-year-old Josue Rodriguez and charged him with the beating.

Rodriguez is facing nine counts of felonious assault and domestic violence charges and appeared for his arraignment in Girard Municipal Court Wednesday morning. A judge set Rodriguez’s bond at $250,000 and issued a protection order to keep him from his wife, who is still hospitalized.

Police said Rodriguez crashed his SUV up against the restaurant to possibly run his wife over in the Liberty Square Plaza around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

There were also multiple cars that were believed to be damaged during the incident.

Witnesses near the restaurant say Rodriguez told them he did it because she was cheating on him.

Denny’s workers tried to help the woman, but said Rodriguez threatened them with pieces of broken concrete.

Police said the woman went to St. Elizabeth Hospital with a possible broken jaw and other injuries.
