Students plan for future with TCTC’s first Signing Day

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – High school seniors confirmed their future plans at Trumbull Career and Technical Center’s first “Signing Day.”

Students who are enrolling in college, joining the career field or enlisting in the military after graduation all took part in the event Tuesday morning.

The ceremony coordinated with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher Initiative and National College Signing Day, which is traditionally reserved for college-bound athletes committing to a school.

TCTC employees said they wanted to celebrate the accomplishments of all of their students, not just the athletes.

“These students are motivated. They’re successful. They’ve taken steps to be accepted and enrolled, or go to work or be in the military, and it’s great to see that these students want to do something awesome after they graduate from school,” said Cara DeToro, coordinator of TCTC’s career development program.

Staff at TCTC hopes that the Signing Day event will grow throughout the years.
