AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The playground at Austintown Township Park has been in place for 20 years now, but on Tuesday, the park announced a new playground will be built.
Construction will begin over the next two to four weeks. The new playground will feature a separate toddler area and child and adult swings.
Also being removed is the old gravel, which parents had complained about. And, one of the tennis courts is being turned into a new court for pickle ball.
Township Trustee Jim Davis said it is time for an upgrade at the park, which will add to the dog park and splash pad already in place at the park.
“The park is growing, and it’s basically an attraction for people from all over Mahoning and Trumbull, and even Columbiana County,” he said.
The project will cost about $70,000. It is being paid for by proceeds from rentals from the township’s Westchester Office Building.
