Man wanted in Detroit murder caught in New Castle

Joseph Larry arrested for a Detroit Murder.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WYTV) – A man wanted on murder charges out of Detroit was arrested in New Castle Thursday.

Officers with the New Castle Police Department and the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Special Investigative Unit were conducting an undercover operation in the city when they attempted to stop a vehicle on Mercer Street.

The vehicle ran from police at a high rate of speed, traveling along North Hill to the area of Laurel Boulevard where three males exited the vehicle and took off on foot.

All three men were caught and one of the suspects was identified as Joseph Lincoln Larry who was wanted on murder charges out of Detroit.

Larry was taken to the Lawrence County Jail and is being held until he can be transported to Detroit.

Also arrested was Jermaine Hughes. He is facing charges of drug possession. Police say they found heroin and crack cocaine on him during the arrest.
