VIENNA, Ohio (WYTV) – Alivia Oulten’s RBI bunt single scoring Grace Simon in the bottom of the ninth inning led Mathews to a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Windham in the Division IV Softball Sectional Finals Friday afternoon.
Nicole Watts went 2-4 with an RBI for the Mustangs at the plate. She also earned the win in the circle, tossing 9 innings, allowing just 5 hits with 11 strikeouts.
Lenna Hoff also went 1-4 for the Mustangs in the win.
Cassie Snyder led Windham at the plate going 1-4 with 2 RBI’s.
Piitsburgh recruit Brittany Knight suffered the loss for the Bombers despite striking out 19 Mathews batters. She also recorded her 1,000th career strikeout in the loss.
Windham’s season comes to an end with a record of 15-6.
Mathews improves to 21-4 overall on the season. The Mustangs advance to face Maplewood in the Division IV District Semifinals Wednesday at Candlelight Knolls.
