Niles police looking for theft suspects

A witness alerted police to the break-in

Police in Niles, Ohio are looking for suspects in a break-in at the Rent a Center store.

NILES, Ohio (WYTV) – Niles police are looking for at least two suspects who broke into the Rent a Center on Route 422 early Friday morning.

A witness told police he saw the suspects at the store at about 2:30 a.m. where a brick had been thrown through the window to gain entry.

Police later spotted a vehicle fitting the description the witness gave and attempted to pull it over, but the vehicle sped away. A chase ensued and the vehicle crashed into a pole on Route 46, near Davis Street.

The suspects got out of the vehicle and took off on foot.

Weathersfield and Howland police departments along with troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol are assisting with the search. A canine unit was also called to the scene

A flat screen TV was in the backseat of the vehicle and officers discovered that the vehicle had been stolen.

Officers are canvassing the area of Route 46, Davis St., Washington St., West St., and George St., looking for the suspects.
