YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Rayen Early College held its Fourth Annual Mini Relay for Life Friday. Students from the school were joined by students from Chaney, Youngstown Early College, and elementary schools throughout Youngstown.

Together the students walked the first lap at Chaney High School and then others were encouraged to continue and “Walk It Out.”

The day began with an opening ceremony that included speaker Coach Ron Berdis who spoke about taking action and not sitting on sidelines.

“I still have a saying in my office above my desk that says “What you do speaks so loudly I can’t hear what you say.” In other words, actions speak louder than words. You have to give to get, and certainly you guys are to be commended for your giving today,” Berdis said.

The event is a partnership with the school district and the American Cancer Society, OSU Extension, Akron Children’s Hospital, and Mercy Health.
