Draft horses plow fields in Green Township

GREEN TWP., Ohio (WYTV) – Draft Horse Field Day brought horse and animal lovers from across the Valley to Green Township on Saturday.

Knights used draft horses to ride into battle. Event sponsor Bob Rea said, in the regions where they came from, they also had to be used for commerce and to move products.

“This particular breed is a Clydesdale. They were noted for pulling freight wagons. They did deliveries in cities and hauled freights from city to city. Because of their long legs, they could cover miles quickly.”

The draft horses plowed fields on Saturday. When the crop is harvested in the fall, organizers plan to donate some of the food to a food bank in Youngstown.
