Landlord gets attacked with ax in Youngstown

A witness called police and when officers arrived, Heckman was lying in the driveway.

Jason Swegan was charged with felonious assault in Youngstown, Ohio.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A landlord who confronted a man about putting up a fence was hit with an ax.

According to a police report, a man only identified as Heckman said he went to his property Wednesday at 1651 South Heights and confronted Jason Swegan, 41, about putting up a fence.

Swegan lives at 1647 South Heights and was standing on Heckman’s property as he was erecting the fence, according to the report.

Heckman said during their conversation, Swegan picked up an ax and hit him in the face with it, causing a laceration on his cheek. Swegan then ran into his house, according to the police report.

A witness called police and when officers arrived, Heckman was lying in the driveway.

Police went to the home at 1647 South Heights and arrested Swegan. He is charged with felonious assault.

Swegan is scheduled to appear in Youngstown Municipal Court early Thursday.

Heckman as taken to Saint Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.
