Suspect leads Warren police on chase through apartments

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A fight in Warren ended with police chasing a man through two apartment units in Warren.

Police were called about 11 p.m. Sunday to the 1300 block of Fifth Street on reports of a fight where witnesses saw a man with a weapon.

Police were able to track down the suspect to a nearby parking lot. When they approached the vehicle, a man exited the passenger side and ran.

Other officers responding to the call were able to locate the suspect, identified as Deshaun Franklin, 25, of Youngstown, at an apartment complex on Fifth Street.

According to a police report, Franklin ran through two of the apartments and made his way to an upstairs bedroom where two small children were present.

He finally surrendered to police, according to the report, and was taken into custody.

Police found two handguns inside the vehicle in the parking lot on Fifth Street.

The female driver of the vehicle was detained at the scene for a short time but was later released.

Franklin was charged with aggravated burglary, having weapons while under disability and improper handling of a firearm.

Franklin was arraigned Monday in Warren Municipal Court where he entered a not guilty plea. He is due back in court June 2.
