WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Warren man was charged with inducing a panic after he made a false report about being tied up inside a house on Scott Street.

According to police, Joshua Ford, 28, called his female roommate Friday night and told her he was tied up inside the house and someone was threatening his life.

Officers were able to locate the house by spotting Ford’s gold Chevy Cavalier parked outside.

When police arrived, Ford was exiting from a back door of the house. He admitted to calling his roommate and said he was “just messing” with her and apologized.

Later that same night, the roommate called Ford’s phone and another male answered stating that Ford’s claims of the being tied up and threatened were real and that she made matters worse by alerting police.

Officers went back to the Scott Street residence where Ford again disputed the claims of being threatened.

Ford was arrested and charged with inducing panic.
