Eagle Scout creates drop-box for American flags in Warren

The box is located at the new Veterans Resource Center on E. Market Street

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – An Eagle Scout unveiled a flag retirement box in Trumbull County at the new Veterans Resource Center Friday morning.

Josh Lang decided to create this box for his Eagle Scout project because he wanted people to be able to retire their American flags properly.

A Marine Corps veteran was the first to place an American flag in the drop-box.

Lang said he did this to give back to the community and its veterans.

“They fought for that flag and I think that we should give back to them and respect that they fought for that flag. Some gave all and all gave some.”

The drop-box will be placed outside the Veterans Resource Center for everyone to drop off flags that need to be retired at any time of the day.

Editor’s note: A previous version of this story indicated that the flag drop-off box was the first in Trumbull County. A viewer said another flag drop-off box was created in Champion in 2015 by an Eagle Scout. WYTV regrets the error.
