SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – Springfield Local Schools eighth graders had a taste of what it takes to lead the classroom on Friday.
Science students spent the day outside, teaching classes to elementary students about nature. The eighth grade students had to come up with lesson plans for the day, as the elementary students rotated through different stations.
One event organizer said eighth grade students are capable of great things, if you present the opportunity to them.
“I mean these eighth graders have been working for four months on their own time to put these lessons together for these elementary children, making sure there is real learning going on here,” said Pat Ivan, a teacher at Springfield Schools.
In all, about 90 eighth graders worked to pull off the event that hosted all students in kindergarten through fourth grade.
