Western Reserve falls in Regional Final

The Redskins held off a late rally from the Blue Devils who stranded the tying run at 2nd.

Cuyahoga Heights players celebrate after getting the win over Western Reserve for the Regional title.

LORAIN, OH (WYTV) – Western Reserve stranded the tying run at second base to hand Cuyahoga Heights the win in the Division IV Lorain Regional Final 6-5.

The game was plagued by errors and miscues by each team starting with the Blue Devils allowing a run in the 2nd inning off a wild pitch.

The Redskins would add two more runs in the 3rd off an RBI-single and RBI-groundout by Tyler Selig.

But the Blue Devils would answer in their half of the third thanks to poor defense from Heights.

Reserve would score their first run when Drew Slaven grounded to third and a poor throw home allowed Walker Marlowe to score.

Later in the inning it was Justin Ciccone grounding to second and a miscue¬†from the second baseman allowed Reserve’s 2nd run to score, and they would later tie after a walk brought Dom Velasquez to score.

Reserve would hand some runs right back to the Redskins though in the 4th which gave them the lead for good.

The Blue Devils finish the year 21-7.
