YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – You might recognize the Giannios name from their delicious candy, but the family also knows how to make some great Greek food.
The Giannios family started the Glendi Greek Festival at St. John’s Church about 20 years ago. They said they usually hold it in August but decided to change things up this year.
This weekend, the festival is dishing up its Greek dinners, gyros, home-made pastries and bringing in live entertainment.
“We have all of your favorite Greek foods, your pisitzo, your lamb, your chicken and then all of the Greek pastries too. We have a whole room of pastries,” said Krista Giannios.
All of the money raised goes back to the church, and over the past couple of years they’ve raised $80,000 to $90,000.
The festival continues tonight until 10 and will go tomorrow from noon to 10 as well.
