Motorcyclist struck by Jeep in East Palestine

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for injuries

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (WYTV) – A motorcyclist was struck in East Palestine on Monday afternoon after colliding with a Jeep.

The driver was headed south on N. Market Street when he collided with the Jeep, which was turning left onto Highland Avenue. A neighbor reported the crash after he heard it outside of his home.

“We had some guys working on my roof there. We were having a party out back. Crash happened, we all ran out here. He was laying on the sidewalk and we had the squad here in no time,” said Rick Gorby of East Palestine.

The driver of the Jeep was uninjured. The motorcyclist was injured and was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Crews at the scene said the driver of the motorcycle was awake and alert when taken to the hospital.

The East Palestine Fire Department, EMS and Police Department responded. An investigation into the accident is pending.

The road was closed for about an hour following the crash, but it has reopened.
