Canton man indicted on charges in April assault in Liberty

Johnny King is charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and felonious assault as a repeat violent offender

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Canton man has been indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury on charges related to an alleged assault at a Liberty apartment in April.

Johnny King is charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and felonious assault as a repeat violent offender.

King was accused of brutally beating his ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill the alleged victim and her daughter.

The victim’s teenage daughter called police from the bedroom of her house, whispering that King broke into their apartment and was holding her mom against her will. During a call to 911, she said she could hear her mom yelling from the other room and said she was scared to come outside.

When police arrived, they found the girl’s mother with cuts and bruises to her face and neck, as well as a broken tooth and nose, according to a Liberty Police report. The woman told police King punched and choked her until she became unconscious.
