AKRON, Ohio (WYTV) – South Range plated five runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and never looked back in a 7-1 win over Edison in the Division III State Softball Semifinals at Firestone Stadium in Akron Thursday.
Raiders’ Pitcher Caragyn Yanek shut down the Chargers, tossing a complete game, allowing just one run on 3 hits with 6 strikeouts.
Madison Weaver led the led the Raiders at the plate going 2-3 with 2 RBI’s. Lydia Baird went 1-2 with 2 RBI’s, while Cody Taylor also notched a pair of hits and an RBI in the victory.
Edison Pitcher Erica Reber tossed 6 innings, allowing 7 runs (5 earned) on 10 hits, with 4 strikeouts. The Chargers end the season with a record of 24-4.
South Range improves to 29-3 overall on the season. The Raiders advance to face Wheelersburg in the Division III State Championship Saturday at 1PM at Firestone Stadium.
