Walk Against Heroin event to be held in Warren

The event starts at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Amphitheater on Mahoning Avenue in Warren

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Warren Amphitheater is expected to be packed with at least a thousand people this Sunday — all in an effort to remove the stigma that goes along with addiction.

Austintown’s Braking Point Recovery Center is one of the sponsor’s for the 2016 Walk Against Heroin, organized by a group of recovering addicts. They have put together a mile walking course for the event and have will have informational booths and vendors on hand.

Their goal is to get more people to understand that addiction is a disease not a choice, according to Ryan Sheridan, owner of Braking Point Recovery Center.

“It is a disease, and it is treatable, and we need to get a positive spin on it, positive focus on it by bringing everyone together and letting the public know what happens when everybody recovers,” he said.

The event starts at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Amphitheater on Mahoning Avenue in Warren.
