Youngstown State University beginning new engineering program

The courses will begin once the Ohio Department of Higher Education gives its approval

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Youngstown State University has started a new degree in the engineering department.

The university is adding a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering. Students in the program will take classes in industrial and mechanical engineering.

These new engineers will design factory systems that take raw materials and turn them into products, according to YSU Provost Dr. Martin Abraham.

“They were the folks who were able to take the understanding of the materials, the parts, the equipment, the understanding of the factory or industrial system and put it together to make a process,” he said.

The courses will begin once the Ohio Department of Higher Education gives its approval.
