SHARON, PA (WYTV) – A Hermitage man was charged with assault after police said he attacked a man at the alleged victim’s house.

Early Sunday afternoon, police responded to a call of a gunshot in the area of 148 W. State Street.

As police were responding, an officer observed a man (later identified as Nicholas Anderson, 25) running from the area.

According to the police report, Anderson refused to obey commands to stop and was taken to the ground by two officers as he attempted to free himself.

Police learned that Anderson had pounded on a door to one of the apartments in the building and when the adult male occupant opened the door holding a .410 single shot shotgun Anderson attacked him, grabbing the gun and punching the victim in the face.

The report states that the victim fired one shot at Anderson, who fled and was captured by officers. Anderson was not stuck by the gun shot.
