WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police arrested a Warren man Monday afternoon who they said lied about his identity.
An officer was flagged down around 4 p.m. Monday for a traffic accident on Tod Avenue. Both of the drivers, one of which was 53-year-old Joseph Hildebrand, were uninjured and the vehicles were not seriously damaged.
Hildebrand told officers his name was “Joe Dora” and that he was from Illinois, according to a police report.
Police were unable to identify Hildebrand and asked him to write down his name and social security number.
They say when he began writing his last name, he scratched out what he had written and wrote “Dora” instead. Hildebrand told officers he didn’t know his social security number.
Officers warned him that if he didn’t tell the truth, he would be placed under arrest for falsification and obstruction and taken to jail.
At that point, police said he admitted that his last name was Hildebrand and told them he lied because he thought he had a child support warrant.
Hildebrand is charged with falsification.
