Warren PD: Homeless veteran robbed behind Veterans’ Memorial

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police are looking for two people who they say robbed a homeless veteran in Warren Tuesday night.

The victim said he was approached by a white woman behind the Trumbull County Veterans’ Memorial on Mahoning Avenue around 9 p.m. He told officers the woman said her name was Amy.

Shortly after they began talking, the victim said a black man came up from behind, hit him and started choking him. The two fell to the ground as they struggled, according to a police report.

The victim told police the woman went through his pockets while the man held him down. He said they took his wallet, containing his state ID and VA card, $30 cash and his bicycle.

Officers said the grass was flattened where the victim said the struggle took place. They also found a $10 bill on the ground.

The man is described as 5’9″ or 5’10” tall, weighing 170 to 180 lbs and wearing a blue shirt. The woman is described as 5’6″ tall with short black hair and glasses.
