Family Dollar attempted robbery in Youngstown
Police are asking the public to help identify this man, who they say tried to rob the Family Dollar store on Glenwood Avenue in Youngstown.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob the Family Dollar store on Glenwood Avenue.

The man came into the Youngstown store around 9 p.m. Sunday, just before the store closed. Police said the man had a t-shirt wrapped around his face and indicated that he had a gun in the waistband of his pants, although people at the store said they didn’t see a weapon.

The man then demanded money from the cash register and from a safe, according to police. A store clerk told the robber that she had to go in the back of the store to get the money from the safe, which would take approximately 10 minutes.

While she was in the back of the store, customers called 911. Just before police arrived, the robber took the t-shirt off his head and ran from the store.

The robbery was captured on surveillance video.

The Youngstown Police Department is asking anyone with the identity of the robber to call 330-742-8911.
