YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Poland man accused of building a homemade cannon that exploded in Lowelville remains free on bond while he waits for sentencing.
Michael Lysowski was back in court Wednesday morning, agreeing to a plea bargain with prosecutors.
He was arrested last summer after the cannon he made malfunctioned and then blew-up during the Our Lady of Mount Caramel Festival, leaving two bystanders badly hurt and damaging nearby homes and cars. Police say the cannon was packed too tightly with black powder and that the explosion had the effect of a pipe bomb, blasting shrapnel across the street.
In court Wednesday morning, Lysowski pleaded guilty to possessing a dangerous ordinance and will be sentenced later this summer.
