Sharon PD investigating homicide

The victim, Troy Scott Hall, 29, suffered from some sort of head trauma

SHARON, Penn. (WYTV) – A Sharon man was found dead in the alleyway off Prindle Street between South Oakland and Spruce Avenues shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

Investigators are not releasing the cause of death just yet but said the victim, Troy Scott Hall, 29, had some sort of head trauma.

Sharon Police Chief Gerald Smith said social media played a huge role in helping to identify Hall and contact his family.

“We were able to look at a driver’s license photo and we found him on Facebook. That’s how we found his family. Then we positively identified him through family. Now that we know who Mr. Hall is we can start building his yesterday,” Smith said.

Hall’s body is scheduled for an autopsy with the medial examiner in Pittsburgh Monday morning.

Police said he has no prior criminal record.

It’s the city of Sharon’s first homicide of the year. Investigators are still figuring out who is responsible for the man’s death.

Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot.

“We’ve got a report of a single gunshot. We’re trying to link it to see if that’s, in fact, related to this case or not,” Smith said.

Investigators ask for anyone who saw or heard anything around that time Sunday morning to call the Sharon Police Department or Mercer County 911.

Police said no piece of information is too small in a case like this.
