WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A bomb scare on Warren’s southeast side turned out to be harmless Monday night.

People were cleaning inside of a house, that had been vacant until recently, at 322 Bonnie Brae Avenue.

They noticed a pipe with a cap on the end and thought it was a bomb. They called Warren Police, who then called the Youngstown Bomb Squad.

The piece was actually part of water softener system.

“Initially, it was suspicious to us but upon performing some procedures to render it safe, we determined that there was no explosive contained in any of them,” said Lieutenant Doug Bobovnyik. “So in no way, shape or form was it an IED of any type.”

If you ever find anything suspicious, contact the police or fire department.
