Police: Former YSU football player charged with pushing officer

Kintrell Disher is charged with assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A former Youngstown State University football player was jailed early Sunday morning, accused of pushing a Youngstown police officer.

Kintrell Disher is charged with assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Police say Disher and another person were stopping traffic on Federal Street around 2:30 a.m. —  just after the bars left out.  When an officer told them to step out of the road, Disher told the officer “you better get your mind right,” according to a police report.

Police say Disher then shoved the cop backward and tried to run off. An officer peppered sprayed Disher and he was eventually taken into custody.

Disher was on YSU’s football team for a few years until 2015, according to YSU’s website. During his sophomore year, he played in all games and started the first five contests, with 16 receptions for 169 yards and one touchdown
