Warren pastor robbed at gunpoint by intruder

Police investigated an aggravated robbery incident

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Warren pastor told police he was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown man that showed up at his house Sunday night.

The victim, Pastor Austin Shaw of the Community Church of God in Christ in Warren, told police that he heard a knock on his front door around 10:40 p.m. and went to see who it was. He said he did not think anything was wrong because being a pastor of a church, he often has people come to his house unannounced.

Shaw said he tried to close the door but the man pulled out a long, black revolver and pointed it at him. He said the man told him he did not want to hurt anyone, that he knew who he was and what he did and asked for $50.

Shaw went to get his wallet and gave the man $60. The man then said, “Thank you Father, you will never see me again,” and left, according to the police report.

The police report described the robber as a skinny, black male who appeared to be in his early 20s, wearing dark cargo shorts and a dark shirt. The man was also wearing a red handkerchief over his face.
