Annual 4th of July golf outing raises money for Canfield HS

The event is about giving back and reconnecting with friends over the holiday weekend

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The 5th Annual Canfield Alumni Till Open Scramble took place Saturday.

The golfing event was hosted at Mill Creek MetroParks, benefiting Canfield High School.

In past years they have donated roughly $66,000, which has sponsored various programs and scholarships at the school.

Richard Duffett is co-chair of the Till Open. He said the event is about giving back and reconnecting with friends over the holiday weekend.

“It’s turned into a reunion every year for Canfield. Canfield is a special place. We’re blessed to have graduated from there. They have the best 4th of July celebration in the state of Ohio, rivaling any in the country. So when you can come back to Canfield anyway, and you can see your family and friends anyway, this is just one of the things to do this weekend,” Duffett said.

This year, the event hopes to meet their fundraising goal of $50,000.
