YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – How much money is spent on beauty products every year? If beauty is skin-deep, why don’t we try getting it from the inside?

If you look at the anatomy of our skin, there are two major proteins, collagen and elastin. Collagen, the most abundant protein, is the “fountain of youth.” The more collagen, the younger and healthier skin is. The other protein, elastin, gives volume and prevents the sagging of skin.

Anything that damages those proteins, as time passes, is going to cause lines and wrinkles to form.

But what causes damage to these proteins? Nutrition plays a major key in it.
