Rachel Cassidy, charged with aggravated arson for a Youngstown house fire

YOUNGSOTWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A woman has been charged with aggravated arson in relation a Youngstown house fire on January 22.

Rachel Cassidy, aka Rachel O’Connell, was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on Thursday.

Cassidy was rescued from a home at 361 W. Evergreen Ave. after it caught fire in January. She was treated for inhalation burns and two firefighters were injured.

Investigators believe Cassidy intentionally struck the fire, but the Youngstown Fire Department could not release details on how the fire started, citing the pending court case.

Cassidy is currently in Mahoning County Jail on arson and drug charges, according to jail records.
