YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Youngstown’s new summer tradition, Downtown Shutdown, brings live music, dancing and food trucks to the city.
Those from near and far gathered on Federal Street Friday evening for the event.
“Some kind of an event like this, you definitely bring a lot of people together and for the most part, it’s a pretty jovial crowd,” said vendor Scott Rentz.
The Shutdown event is a rebrand of what was previously known as Party on the Plaza.
The last Shutdown featured a Cleveland Cavaliers game on the big screen. This time around, people lined up to see performances from regional favorites, The Vindy’s and The Clarks.
Chad Bauer has been a fan of The Clarks for almost 16 years, and goes to their concerts often.
“Two or three times a year. Always a good time, always a hoot,” he said.
The Bauers brought their son Nolan on Friday for his first Clarks concert.
Despite the chance of showers, organizers say the event will go on.
“Today we have a nice, beautiful sky for now and we’re hoping it stays that way,” said Director Mike McGiffin.
There will be two more Downtown Shutdown events this summer on August 5 and 19, starting at 4 p.m.
