YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A broken utility pole is getting blamed for accidents occurring last week on Youngstown’s north side.
The accidents happened at the corner of Gypsy Lane and Goleta Avenue, near Northside Medical Center.
The latest accident was Wednesday morning involving a truck belonging to the city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant and a mini-van.
Neighbors said a crash last Wednesday knocked down part of an AT&T utility pole, causing a traffic light to fall. While everyone waits for the phone company to replace its pole, stop signs were installed, but since then, there have been at least four accidents in the location.
“There’s too many lives at risk. There’s a lot of older people that go through here, going through here, going to their appointments and stuff. The light definitely should be fixed,” said Robert Villanueva, of Youngstown.
As soon as the pole is replaced, the light will be reinstalled. As of late Wednesday afternoon, the work has not yet been completed.
