JACKSON CENTER, Pa. (WYTV) – A Jackson Center couple is facing several charges related to the sexual assault of a then-teenage family member.
Investigators said the crimes began 14 years ago, when the alleged victim was 14. The woman reported being inappropriately touched by Michael Hamelly, who she said would come into her bedroom once or twice a week when she was a child.
The alleged victim said she told Michael’s wife, Charyn, about the assault, but she said Charyn covered it up. Police said the victim’s husband reported that Charyn admitted that the crime occurred but “wanted to keep the family together.”
Charges were filed on Monday.
Charyn is charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of corruption of minors. Michael is charged with 104 counts each of endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors and indecent assault.
