Retiring Boardman superintendent attends last board meeting

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – Superintendent Frank Lazzeri, who has led the Boardman Schools for the past 12 years, attended his last board meeting Monday evening.

Before it started, Lazzeri walked around the room, shaking hands and receiving best wishes.

He has been with the district for a total of 44 years. His last day will be Sunday, as he retires to spend more time with his grandchildren.

Lazerri says he is leaving the Boardman School System in good shape.

“I’m most grateful to our teachers who took concessions, who understood, who took pay freezes and to boards of education who worked with us as administrators, and the superintendent, and our teachers to provide contracts that didn’t hold our community hostage.”

The school board voted Monday to place two renewal levies totaling 5.5 mills on the November ballot. The passage would mean no new taxes.
