Salem murder suspect to be tried in Court of Common Pleas

Terry Strosnyder is charged in the murder of Athena Nicholas.

LISBON, Ohio (WYTV) – The man accused of killing his girlfriend before shooting himself in Salem will be tried in the Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas.

Terry Strosnyder, 49, is charged with the murder of 46-year-old Athena Nicolas.

Police said they found Strosnyder with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, lying next to Nicolas’ body in the backyard of a house on E. Second Street nearly two weeks ago.

Investigators said a large amount of drugs and weapons were found inside the home.

Strosnyder was arrested immediately after being treated at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

His bond was set at $2.5 million last Friday.
