CLEVELAND, Ohio (WYTV) – A Youngstown convicted felon has been indicted by a federal grand jury on possession of firearm and ammunition charges.
Van Lightning, 26, was previously convicted of a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act) violation in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio, in 2012. Investigators said he had a Springfield, model XD-40, .40 caliber pistol and ammunition despite that conviction which prevented him from owning a firearm.
Lighting was charged after an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Youngstown Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David M. Toepfer.
