GIRARD, Ohio (WYTV) – 2015 was a disappointing year for the Girard Indians, going just 2-8 in Pat Pearson’s second year at the helm. A year before that, they Won eight games and made the playoffs.
In Pat Pearson’s third year as head coach, he has a young group with 55 guys out, but ten of them are seniors.
The good news is, there’s plenty of skill guys to plug in. The offensive line should be a strength, according to Coach Pearson with Trevor Gump anchoring that group as a four year starter.
Sophomore Mark Waid is back under center, coming off a solid freshman campaign. Wade completed fifty percent of his passes, along with ten touchdowns. The Indians are young, but they’re also a hungry team.
The Indians will compete in the All-American Conference Blue Tier again this season, where they went 2-4 in the division last season. Two big games right off the bat with rival Niles and Hubbard, both on the road.
