YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A car dealer accused of ripping off his customers has pleaded guilty to 71 different charges against him.
Investigators first received a complaint from a customer of Reinthaler Auto Village in January and then received another in March. The customers said the owner, Joseph Reinthaler, wasn’t providing the titles for the vehicles they purchased from the Canfield dealership.
Police said Reinthaler even created phony auto titles so he could resell the cars to other people.
The bank contacted police in August, and Reinthaler was charged with several felony forgery, tampering with records and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity charges.
Wednesday, he pleaded guilty to the charges and faces a lengthy jail sentence, according to Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor Nick Brevetta.
“At the time of sentencing, the state is going to recommend a term of 15 years incarceration,” he said.
A sentencing hearing for Reinthaler has not yet been set.
