YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Former Congressman Steve LaTourette lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday at 62 years old.
LaTourette represented Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties, as well as part of northern Trumbull County.
He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1995 and was known as a moderate Republican.
While he was pro-life, LaTourette broke with Republicans opposing the bank rescue program and extending unemployment benefits during the recession.
He retired in 2013, upset over the gridlock in Congress.
