2016 McDonald Football Preview

Despite a 7-3 record, the Blue Devils didn't make the playoffs last season

McDonald Blue Devils High School Football – McDonald, Ohio

McDONALD, Ohio (WYTV) – McDonald had their tenth straight winning season in league play last season, going 4-1 in the ITCL Blue.

Even with winning the Blue-Tier and having a 7-3 overall record, the Blue Devils didn’t make the post-season despite topping three playoff teams.

Dan Williams is in his 16th season as head coach at his alma mater and welcomes back six starters on both sides of the ball.

With starting quarterback Ben Carkido and leading rusher Jake Reckard gone, Dylan Portolese will take the reins at quarterback after receiving 12 catches for 188 yards last season and speedster Joey Celli will get the bulk of the load at running back.

McDonald only has two lineman returning, leaving the offense with a very different look up-front this season.

Three of their first four games are away from home, with some long trips to Black River and Wellsville.

Blue-Tier play starts September 30th at home against Jackson-Milton, where McDonald will close the season with three of five at home.
