Hubbard church puts on school supply giveaway, carnival for community

A carnival and a chance to pick up free school supplies went on at the Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard Sunday.

HUBBARD, Ohio (WYTV) – A carnival and a chance to pick up free school supplies went on at the Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard Sunday.

It was the fifth time the church hosted an event like this, with all the supplies donated from the community, such as book bags filled with pencils and notebooks.

The school supply giveaway was an idea that began with one of the church goers.

“Judy Longley, who is the one who had the vision for the outreach, said that she saw a need in our community of children that didn’t have enough school supplies. She talked to the local schools, and found out that there was a need,” said carnival chairperson Marty Nicastro.

It was also a time for kids to have fun with games and face painting, and food was also offered.
