Police called to investigate ‘hissing’ coyote on Youngstown bridge

An officer with the Ohio Division of Wildlife determined that the coyote had been hit by a car

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police were called to the Center Street Bridge in Youngstown Monday morning after a caller reported that a coyote or fox was “hissing and staring at him.”

Police said the man, who was walking in the area, was afraid the animal would attack.

An officer with the Ohio Department of Natural Resource’s Division of Wildlife was also called out to investigate at 1:30 a.m. The officer determined that the coyote had been hit by a car and was seriously injured.

The officer euthanized the coyote by shooting it, according to Peter Novotny, ODNR Division of Wildlife’s district manager.

Peter added that coyotes are in every county and city in Ohio.
