Hermitage, PA (WYTV) – Hickory football has set the standard in Western Pennsylvania in recent years. Five straight District 10 Titles and a complete juggernaut on both sides of the ball. Experience is back in key positions and speed is a big strength, led by one of the best running backs in all of the Valley.
Head coach Bill Brest is back for a 7th season at the helm. He’s won 82 percent of his games in that time. Brest has 44 kids out, with 6 starters back on both sides of the ball. The offense is led by senior Charles Carr. He’s racked up over 4,500 yards rushing in three seasons.
Junior Luke Brennan is back at quarterback as a three year starter great manager of the game. The defense is one of the best around after allowing just 12 points per game last year. Senior Tyler Bishop leads the way up front.
The Hornets will compete for another Region 3 Title this season. They finished 2nd last year with a 6-1 record, their only loss came to rival Sharon, and the Tigers went on to win the title. But Hickory has done most of their damage in the postseason and will go for their 6th straight D-10 Title this season.
